Hi everyone,

I'm new here and I like to discuss what causes a long midface and what options do exist to fix it, as an adult (26, m). In my case, I noticed that my midface was getting longer. I measured my facial ratios in older photos were I was 17 that my ftwhr was 1.76, my ES ratio was 0.46 and my midface ratio was 0.946. Now at 26 the facial ratios I have is a fwthr of 1.63, an ES ratio of 0.49, and a midface ratio of 0.925. What caused that change? It looks clearly to me that I wasn't born with a long midface because it changed over time. Probably due to recession? I don't have a gummy smile. I have basically the very same problem as the homeblock guy as mentioned in a jaw hacks podcast (click here for comparisons https://youtu.be/TLeSyYbyz3M?t=618) but not the same cause (I never used homeoblock).

I don't think mewing will help especially in my age with this specific problem. I know of results from mewing even older than my age, but unfounately the midface ratio didn't changed. I measured it in several before and afters. I don't think that the MSE with a facemask could fix this either, because CCW rotation of the maxilla isn't possible with a facemask, due to the resistance of the upper third. What would be needed to fix a long midface (even if surgery)? I'm open minded for everything even if it is something long term or unconventional.

Thank you all so much for your help. I look forward to getting to know everyone on here, and learning from others.
