[Solved] Should people with an overbite turn the jaw downward, not upward?

Looking me at the mirror in profile, I notice that because of my overbite, my gonial angle is <90°, and this causes my lower incisors to be completely covered by the upper incisors; moreover, my soft palate is very high, and this led me to deduce that the presumed counterclockwise oscillation of the mandible should not occur in my case, but rather I should rotate my mandible clockwise so that my gonial angle becomes less acute and my overbite resolves accordingly. Of course I also need a forward jaw movement to do this.

Now I wonder if mewing is enough to do this, or should I use any particular technique to achieve this swing, such as facepulling or expander?

You never want to move downwards. Counterclockwise rotation actually can help make  the bite more open and make your incisors less retroclined.

All clockwise rotation will do for your is push your mandible further and make your chin look weak. This also will make your incisors more retroclined.

I say this as someone with an artificial overbite. Counterclockwise upswing has helped me a lot.

Are you seeing your upper teeth shift up and forward from just mewing?

I'm a similar bite too and I always asked myself if that in this case we should focus on front palate instead of the back part

you meant front of head pushing down and back tongue pushing up right? If yes, I'm trying this too and yeah I think that focussing on tip pusing the front palate was wrong, can't explain why, just feeling.

And I assume teeth moved forward without any tipping/flaring? Do you find that your lower teeth/mandible have moved forward along with the maxilla and upper teeth? I'm curious how long it took to see significant results. Thanks!

Teeth flaring isn't bad if your incisors are severely retroclined. It allows the mandible room to protract forward thus strengthening the profile (chin and gonial angle)

My teeth haven't done this at any rate. Upswing has occurred of maybe 1-2mm judging by side profile pics of me smiling. And yes the mandible will move along with it automatically.

Hey, by fixing head posture do you mean tucking your chin more and mewing? Also did the technique of pushing your front palate not help fix the overbite?
