Very high arch which my mother had also a pacifier until age 3. Orthodontist extracted two upper molars and two lower molars. Braces on at 16 for two years and then again at age 45. Is there help for me. Both of my children had high palettes but had those widened at a young age with no extractions and braces, their smiles and bone structure are beautiful. I did have constant ear infections and breathing issues growing up.
My sister had her pallets widened in her late 20’s is it too late for me to do anything?
Thank your in advance for your input.
Monica
You sure can , theres a cool video of a 70 year old doctor getting a homeobloc expander , fixes breathing and posture and he grows his face and skull
Yes. If you are in the States look for docs trained at the Las Vegas Institute (who will at least have a background in oral structure and functional health, as not every dentist does). Lots of people your age have sought this kind of treatment for long term problems like migraines, frequent infections, TMJ problems, sleep disorders, and so on--with success. An initial consultation with at least one should give you an idea of what is possible.
LVI doesn’t lower a highly arched palate so much as provide forward growth.
Vivos and Dr. Sue Lee are reshaping palates in adults. Invisalign is hot on the trail. No reason to suffer anymore. Any orthodontists use CBCT in your area? Good to know what you’re starting with.
LVI patients have skinny faces (aka high palates). I don’t know I’d go that route per se. I think their arch lengthening is good... and at an older age, a lip bumper (which works fine to lengthen arches) is simply out of the question. There is cool stuff LVI does...sure. However, what can Fixed Anterior Growth Guidance Appliance (FAGGA) do that saggital with Y-shape can’t? A y-shaped saggital can recreate gaps.
I know technically it can open gaps then fill them with back teeth. It depends if impacts are warranted. However, LVI doesn’t create hardly the width that others can. LVI is focused on TMD for a reason. If they were focused more on airway, they’d focus on widening/reshaping palates. I think their kiddo treatment is good for arch length...but if they did a study, they’ll find it lengthens the midface
*if implants or other space maintaining measures are warranted* (not “if impacts are warranted”) Sorry for the misspelling!
