I am 17 years old, have an intermolar width of 33mm, and have two upper and lower fixed permanent wire retainers behind my 6 front teeth of each jaw.
I need to do a lot of research as I want to: improve my body’s posture, swallow properly, mew while sleeping (my tongue falls in my airway if I mew during sleep), and expand my palette to increase my IMW to 40 as I lack tongue space.
I may need to remove my permanent retainer for the expansion and will have to research about palette expanders.
I will soon take a good before photo of my teeth and face that can easily be replicated with the same: head tilt, lighting, camera, neck posture, tongue posture, distance, and room in the after photo. This is so we can tell in the future if changes have occurred.
At the moment, my knowledge on mewing is ok but I will learn more and stay fairly active on this site for the changes that may happen in the future.
Here is a photo of my teeth straightened after orthodontics
Good luck. Love the username btw. I feel like someone should tell Kane about AGGA or some other device. God knows he has the money.
Update 26/06/19:
I have been mewing during the day whenever I am conscious of it. My body posture is lacking but my main obstacles on this journey are:
- Narrow palate making tongue posture difficult
- Because of the difficult tongue posture, night mewing is not happening and I am mouth breathing at night according to a friend
My plan to fix this is roughly thought out so far and will require more thinking but I want to start facepulling using my thumbs to expand my intermolar width. I will also need to somehow make sure that I retain my changes during sleep. I do this by mewing with good body and head posture during the day and before sleep. I will also tape my mouth at night.
