Hi, guys. I'm designing a new model of expander to have a wider jaw. I bought a fan expander, orthodontic acrylic and some tools so I will make my own model. The regular jaw expander makes an expansion in the middle of the jaw, which I thought could make my chin wider and I don't want that. So I bought a fan type expander to create a device which would fit my purpose. The fan type expanders are normally used with the expansive side closer to the teeth. I'm making the opposite to achieve my desired goal. Basically I will try to bend my jaw bone or stimulate it to develop in a better shape. Anyone have any idea if this could work or if it's a dangerous method? I will avoid tooth contact to avoid tooth tipping, so most of the acrylic will be right behind the bone. And I will do it very slow (18 months). Check the pics to have an idea of how it will be. I will stop expanding as soon as I think my jaw is in good shape. I know it will be possible to have proper tongue position while using the device. I plan to expand the upper palate later and chew a lot of hard chewing gum for correct tooth position while expanding.

Interesting stuff.  If you check out nearby ortho labs they have this stuff (at least similar).  Honestly... those teeth - whoever they belong to - look really great.  If those were mine, I'd let them be.  The IMW looks plenty good and the TMJ could get messed up.
