Hi there,

Hope this is the correct forum.

At 18 years old after fixed braces I finally got the double jaw surgery (both jaws broken and realigned) to correct a severe asymmetrical underbite.

My surgeon said after a successful (hmm) surgery that my face would still be asymmetric despite a great change to my underbite because my bone on one side was set that way.

Im now 31 and have severe asymmetry throughout my brow bone, nose and jaw almost like a stroke victim. I also have a slight tilt to my smile.

I've been mewing for three months and into my fourth now and have seen some minor changes such as better breathing/ no more dry lips from open mouth. It is effortless to mew now whereas my tongue used to rest middle and between my teeth.

However I am very concerned that due to the surgery and the screws in my jaw bones, that perhaps there won't be much hope at all for me especially at my age with a year + of mewing. I am aware it takes years at my age.

Does anybody know if a surgery like this means a hopeless case for any growth?

Thank you

Mewing won't make any difference to your bone structure if that's what your asking.
