Hello.
I got a palate expander last tuesday. It looks like the one in the picture. Though the loop is facing towards my teeth not towards my throat. Is this thing properly installed? The loop in the middle also touches the front of my upper palate. Though this piece of metal wire leaves a large space between it and my upper (soft part) of the palate. And I have this natural tendency to rest and push my tongue up against my upper pallate. But now this wiring is in the way and my rongue is pushing against it. Especially when I am sleeping I do this unconciously. So I am afraid that this will actually pull the molar teeth it is connected with on the sides inwards, everytime my tongue pushes against this hyrax wire. And not expand the upper jaw what it is supposed to do. Is this true? Also. When I park my whole rongue behind this wire I start getting difficulty breathing. But I can handle. Thing is I cannot maintain this subconsciously ie. when I sleep for proper rongue posture. What can I do now. And is this thing perhaps installed backwards?
can you hold tongue posrture still with that hyrax in?
but i don't think it will pull the molars inwards because a hyrax gives a lot of pressure outwards because it's a rappid expander.
