Hello,
I have been mewing and chewing Mastic gum for around 6 months and I have noticed some minor changes so far such as slightly more prominent cheekbones and a slightly more square jaw (still a slight double chin), but the one thing I really want to improve is my high palate.
When I do a 'normal' relaxed smile I can only see around 3mm of my upper teeth. If I force the smile I get about double.
I aslo use Vitamins K2 and D3 and have recently started doing the neck exercise at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-8ZSZsWxZ4&feature=youtu.be .
I have an appointment at a sleep clinic in a couple of weeks for my sleep apnea and I am hoping to convince then that my underdeveloped jaw is the issue and then they can do something, but if that doesn't prove successful then what of the below will help?
Mewing
Chewing (do about half an hour a day - mix of open and closed mouth chewing)
Palate expander (thinking of getting one from braces shop, which one would be best)
Other (facepulling/chin tucks etc)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Hey, I also have a high palate. I've been attempting to mew for close to 2 years now, although I feel that I have only began approaching a good oral posture a few months ago. I have noticed health improvements, especially in relationship to breathing, but my outward, facial improvements remain small (they're definitely noticeable to me, but objectively speaking, they are minor). I think that part of the reason why I haven't progressed faster is because 1) the mid-palatal suture requires a very reliable force to split, and it's difficult to do that with mewing alone, and 2) having a high palate makes it even harder to maintain a good oral posture necessary to facilitate such a change. For this reason, I ordered an expander, I am currently waiting for it to be delivered. I hope that the appliance coupled with mewing will result in more noticeable changes.
By the way, I got the Schwartz expander. I stayed clear of the ones that also attempt to expand forward because I've read that they are more risky, and more likely to cause teeth tipping.

Good advice - thanks, will see what the sleep clinic says and if no joy will order the same one.
How much is it? And are you just ordering for the upper palate?
