I have been mewing for little over a year.

My intermolar width has increaed from around 33-34mm to about 40mm.

When I started I was not able to get my tongue on my palate, so I did some form of hard mewing.

After about 3-4 months, I smoked some weed, and for some reason I have a much better feeling for my tongue when high, so that night I managed to get my whole tongue on my palate for the first time. At that point my tongue was getting squuezed very hard. I held it there for some hours and heard a loud crack from inside my head. This is the only time when I have heard any cracks. After that I still had trouble getting my whole tongue up, but sometimes I managed to. Now I can get my whole tongue up there with no problems, it still has alot of contact with the teeth, but its not getting squuezed to the same degree.

I have been doing normal mewing, hard mewing and posture work, but my focus changed through different periods. In the beginning for example I did alot of chin tucks, but now I dont do any but focus more on my posture during the day. My posture has not become great, but alot better than when I started.

I do hard mewing for a few hours every day, it has become a kind of habit. I dont think i have good tongue posture at night.

I still have an overbite, but I think it has decreased slightly, based on where my lower incisors touch my upper when biting together.

I feel like my appearence has changed a little for the better, but its hard to put a finger on what exaclty, and maybe it is mostly soft tissue changes, I really dont know.

These profile pictures were taken 1 year apart. It is taken with the same camera, I have since moved so cant take it in the same spot, but I tried to copy the setup and body posture as much as possible.

I see a visible change as your lips and chin migrated forward. Your lower third looks longer, too.

Is your bite structure Class 1 or 2 (or even 3)?

@puncher323 Yes I think so, I have not noticed any change in my occlusion. The expansion has been very slow, and I keep my teeth together.

Sailor did you start with a vaulted palate and if yes has it changed a bit through expansion or not? Good progress by the way!

Yes I would say so, but its really difficult to say, since I have nothing to compare it to, but yes I think so. And its really hard to tell if it has changed, I think I would only know for sure if it was drastic, and I would say no to that.

Thank you, I have worked really hard for these 5-6mm of expansion, I hope year 2 will bring more drastic results :)

If i was you I wouldnt focus so much on mewing "perfectly" i think you should chin tuck a tad and just swallow in that position. You should experience a ton of force on the front of the palate. Try to keep that there. Dont lower that pressure just to get a suction in the back.

@rockyp33

Thanks for your advice, I agree, I try to push on the sloped front of the palate, and that becomes easier in a chin tuck posture. I dont think swallowing generates that much force, but maybe im just not doing it right.
