Hey community,
I am 17 years old and my first contact with mewing was about half a year ago. I have been a mouth breather during my childhood which lead to a midface deficity. I believe its genetics but my intermolar width is about 42 mm even though i was a mouthbreather, but my maxilla doesnt seem to be much forward. I struggled a lot putting my tongue onto the roof of my mouth especially on the right side. My face is quite asymetrical which i believe is the consequence of my right part of the tongue being much weaker? I think about 2 Months ago i figured out how to correctly place my tongue and since then i am 24/7 pushing hard on to my palate. I manage to place the posterior part of my tongue on the roof almost all day. I really feel the force on my cheekbones and i am quite optimistic that i will see even greater changes in the future. What really bothers me is that the right side of my palate seems to be much more narrow than the left one (my left side is bigger and has better cheekbones). And the last tooth of my rightside is not able to touch the bottom tooth when i bite down which i think is the consequence of my back part of my tongue resting between them in the past. Do you think that i can correct this kind of open bite only with tongue posture? and how can i expand the rightside of my palate more than the other side? or do you think i will need a palate expander?
How are you measuring intermolar width?
hey i have same problem im 16 years old, did you find the fix?
