Hi! (please move this thread if it is in the wrong spot, the content pertains to myself but it has personal questions which I guess could make it classified under main forum)
I am not really trying to do anything, but I am curious about what I could do to improve my face. Before I post photos however, I'd like to share my current situation and any advice from you for what I should do and expect.
I am turning 18 years old, however, since I started puberty fairly early and I have facial hair now and have grown very little in the past few years.
I am a mouth breather when I sleep and sometimes when I am awake. I have forward head posture. I received braces to fix teeth crowding in my mouth and now that my treatment is over, I wear a plastic retainer every night for my upper jaw and have a fixed retainer on my front few teeth on my bottom jaw. I feel that trying to mew with upper jaw retainer is pointless, as the retainer just reverts everything back to how it was before. I really do not want to spend more money on new braces and I can't really buy these expanders and stuff because a) my parents would have to pay for it and b) I don't even know where I could get one + professional consultation because there aren't many doctors who know about this stuff where I live. When I try to properly swallow or have proper tongue posture, some mucus from my throat gets on my tongue and I can taste it, anyone know what this is indicative of?
What information more should I include in these details (what measurements of my mouth? pictures of mouth, jaw and face?)?
What route should I go with? I have heard of expanders, mewing, facepulling and all sorts of stuff that is quite confusing and seems costly. Do you know what I should search up to find health providers/professionals who can offer advice/services on improving one's face (I live in Australia)?
Kind regards,
Jeff!
Hi, bump. I'm just wondering what other information I should include in my next post so that you guys can offer some meaningful advice? Any help please?!
Bump.
Please help, I don't know what to do and I'm a beginner.
I had my fixed retainers removed early last year and haven't had a relapse keeping my tongue up on my palate and my lips closed.
Experiment with your tongue, push it around on your palate and learn your mouth, if your palate is small then it'll be difficult to rest it comfortably, this is okay, just be sure youre as symmetrical as you can.
Once youre comfortable you can experiment with pushing your tongue in different directions and feeling the pressure in your skull, pushing forward might be felt around the nose, pushing laterally in the cheekbones etc. This will increase your awareness. I recommend trying to sort out your posture and get good movement.
Keep in mind we don't know for sure what really works and what doesn't.. yet. And results are few and far between.
Basically dude there's no cut and dry way when your machinery isn't balanced, adjust yourself to your particular face. Photos will help
Go read around the forum, theres lot's of information if you dig around.
I recommend mewing for the first year after that you can look at how you're doing and if you see changes
you can maybe look for expanders like hyrax or MSE MARPE or SARPE or DNA all very good expanders
but if you take a picture of your teeth we could help you more
