Thought I'd share my case here since I've gotten a lot of interesting information out of this forum.
37 M, initial inter-molar width of 34mm, expanded to 38/39mm in 2 months. SARPE in combination with SFOT. Expanded roughly 8mm on the device, noticeable screw tipping occurred and saw no gap until over a month after fully advancing the appliance. Gaps in teeth are still getting wider each day so I may get a few more mm of dento-alveolar movement.
Also advanced the upper arch 3mm, special RPE.
No scans yet but it seems like I have a few mm of posterior skeletal expansion and the rest is dento-alveolar.
Slightly more prominent cheekbones and noticeably diminished meso-labial folds. Nose is a little pointier.
Nasal breathing is easier, especially at night, about a 50-75% improvement. Sleep quality is slightly worse due to the restricted tongue posture.
A little bummed I didn't get the full skeletal expansion, but am very happy with getting to a width where I can comfortably practice good tongue posture and hopefully never worry about sleep apnea again.
For all you younger folks getting MSE, count yourselves lucky -- that's like a .22 cal round compared the this .50 cal full metal jacket beast I have in my mouth.
Cool stuff, thanks for posting!
