So I guess it all starts when I was 13 I got my upper premolars removed.  The orthodontist brought my upper jaw back to meet an underdeveloped lower.  Eventually as I grew older my lower jaw grew out of it and I was left with an underbite.  I went to plenty of surgeons who wouldn’t do surgery because they said it wasn’t bad.

I found a guy a state over who did palate expansion in adults adults and I’m 2 years in a palate expander.  I think I was 30mm at the time with a recessed midface and I’m now maybe 38mm at the first molars.  I am now able to get my full tongue up on palate and mew hard throughout the day even with the expander in.

My my problem is the orthodontist classified me as a bracyhfacial.  Which means short flat arches.  As I said my 1st molars are 38mm but behind my second molars are 53mm.  I have a wide tongue so that might be my endgame.  Is this possible with constant mewing?  I worry because after the bite is fixed he wants me to wear a retainer. Wouldn’t that halt progress?

i want my arches to be less flat and more u shaped.  My nose looks big in profile view and I feel my maxilla needs to come forward some more. I guess I need anterior expansion to get the u shape.     If I expand the anterior to match the wide back molars will that bring the maxilla up?
