Hey guys,

I've posted here before and I've always been assuming I'm having some sort of jaw recession going on. I've seen a doctor a couple of weeks ago and he recommended AGGA and Controlled Arch since my maxilla didn't develop optimally and now holds my mandible locked in a position behind it's optimal point. That's what I got from the consult. X-Ray is attached.

However: In the possible treatment plan it says I have a class III bite and mesial occlusion on both sides. Also says prognathic facial structure. But then again it says slight overbite, retrusion in front and retrognathic mandible.

So what's going on? Why the mixed diagnosis? Am I mixing something up? I don't think my face looks class III bite and prognathic. Isn't that supposed to result in an underbite or at least a more concave face? Sticking out chin? I think my face clearly looks more retrognathic since my chin seems back, my mandible small and my nose kinda pronounced.

I'm not trying to be unnecessarily critical, the doctor was great and explained everything in detail and it all made sense. Just what's on the treatment plan / written diagnosis confuses me. I just really want to understand the problem before I decide to commit to a pricey treatment like AGGA.

Btw: Mew Line is 43, palate width is 41 (upper) and 42 (lower).

Thanks so much guys!

H1

Do you relate to my post here?

/community/community/case-discussions/from-bimax-to-prognathism-to-braces-to-mewing/

My jaw feels more confortable and less strained when upper teeth are slightly in front of lower teeth. BUT I can still close my mouth with lower incisors bewind upper incisors, but feel my jaw a bit strained....

Did you had a similar experience?

To your post not as much but definitely to your description right here. If I loosen up my mandible it drops into a position where my upper and lower incisors align perfectly on top of each other. If I close my mouth so all teeth are in contact instead of just the incisors then I get a slight overbite and my jaw feels held back and strained.

Thank you for your feedback.

It doesn't get that bad for me. But still the mechanics going on are kind of the same I think.
