I learned about oral posture 3 weeks ago, I've been doing it correctly for two weeks, been doing it in my sleep for one week.
My upper palate changed quickly, I know this because in the beginning my tongue could get squeezed in the upper palate and allmost get stuck there. After only a few days of jamming the tongue up there, the form somehow changed in a way where it was no longer possible. This was probably some soft tissue getting moved or something. But now, after only two weeks of correct oral posture, and pushing up and forward 5-6 hours a day, using vacuum alot as well, small gaps have appeared between my molars in my upper mouth. Small, but on the right side its wide enough for me to touch my gums with the tip of my tongue. I have a crowded upper mouth, no spaces between teeth and some of them overlapping a little, no wisdom teeth ever came, im 31. So I was chocked to discover a gap between the teeth, I allmost thought a teeth had fallen out for a second. Im amazed that my teeth have moved in 2 weeks!
Ive been a mouth breather most of my life, and ive noticed other benefits from nose breathing as well, less sensitivity to the cold is what struck me the most, not as cold feet and hands... Very happy I stumbled upon this info! Its like a 2nd puberty, im very excited. Looking forward to posting before/after pics in a year or so!
@sailor87 ok, but make sure yours are improvements and not damages, in particular that you are not pushing the tongue against the teeth. Because being a mouthbreather your gums may turned out be weaker than average due to improper development https://www.drwilliammyers.com/mouth-breathing-impacts-dental-health/.
Ask to an expert!
Yes my tongue is not touching my teeth. That could be, its an area that I usually never touched and from one day to the next force is suddenly applied allmost 24/7.
Be care
Teeth can indeed move very rapidly, as I used to have braces as a teen and a spring mechanism was pushing two teeth apart to make room for a false tooth. The small rubber band attaching the tooth to the wire came off one day and I looked in the mirror to see a horrifying site- that tooth was almost completely sideways. Luckily I reattached the band and it went back into place.
So yes I’m already feeling the “soreness” of having teeth move and it’s been one week. The main thing is that gums have memory and will always seek to return your teeth to their former position, which is why 24/7 posture is needed for life basically - like a permanent retainer.
glad you are excited to see results. I’m 34 so also hopeful to see changes
Im just surprised they can move so fast in adults. I took a picture of my teeth before I began, will post a picture in a few weeks, when the front teeth have changed, for now its only the molars, and cant take a good picture of those.
I have not experienced any soreness in my teeth actually, only soreness in jaw muscles. And yeah this is for life, but thats no problem, dont wanna ever go back to mouthbreathing.
I hope that I can help to show that it works for adults as well, but yes its great motivation since what I expected would take months has only taken weeks.
One thing though is that I could create a strong vacuum since i had no gaps in the upper mouth, so could make a strong suction cup, now that i have gaps that is no longer possible, which has made mewing a little more difficult.
