It's definitely clear your maxilla grew downwards from the initial x-rays. I think you would benefit from an ALF appliance, but my suggestion is you get the opinions of a few other specialists before committing to one. You are fortunate to not have had teeth removed from what I can see - so that is to your benefit (except you may have had wisdom teeth removed?). Have you improved your tongue posture?

I appreciate the response! I'm doing exactly that and have booked 2 other consults for more opinions. One is a vivos provider and the other is just general airway orthdontics. Good catch, I have had my wisdom teeth removed. But it is my understanding that those would have the smallest impact on the mouth. I have been retraining my tongue, but it's been difficult. I am seeing a myofunctional therapist in 2 weeks to help me with this.

Having the wisdom teeth removed should not have too much of an impact but it will result in a weaker jaw from all the cases I've seen. In any case, it's good that you are consulting with multiple providers because each one of them may bring to light other issues or solutions that you had not thought of. I'm assuming you don't have a tongue tie?

I have no tongue tie, that's correct. I actually sent the photos you see above to a few airway centered orthos in the states (I'm in Canada) and one of them suggested I skip the appliances and get mma surgery. Mind you, he uses appliances in children. For a grown adult though, he believes appliances are like scraping the bottom of the barrel and largely a fruitless and expensive endeavor. I'm still going to see the vivos provider, but I'm going to get referrals to an ent specialist and sleep study as well. I'm starting to learn the research, diagnostics, and assessments to be the most vital components in all of this.
