My story:
- I only got breastfed for a very short time
-parents gave me baby formula right after
-developed crooked teeth and a narrow palate
-I got expanders and braces
-Now I'm almost 18 but I'm pretty sure I developed a recessed and asymmetrical face anyway. At least I have straight teeth and a wide enough palate for my tongue so that's a plus.
so yeah I just need to know where to start (or if it's too late)
I have upper fixed retainers now. Should I take them off?
don't take them of fixed retainers won't hinder the progress they are one of the best retainers
do you have them on 6 or 4 teeth?
Your maxilla is seriously retruded. I know that a bit can be done with orthodontics... such as this: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3700158/ She was in a much better starting position and hardly had any change.
The big question in my mind is whether a forward maxillary jaw surgery would drop the palate/widen arches? You have a long road ahead of you.
If this was my brother, I'd suggest a palatal remodeling to drop the palate and widen the arches. I would ask Vivos or Sue Lee for evidence of teeth not ripped from bone in adults. This is seriously missing. I would ask a surgeon of forward maxillary advancement how the palatal vault is dealt with. Eureka! I have a new idea. Holy friggen crap. I just thought of the best design for true palatal expansion in adults. I think it would work. Oh my gosh - I believe it would work. Oh my goodness... I know what needs to be done. I will design it.
It will be the Dark Indigo Y appliance. DIY appliance for short.
wait you're saying I need surgery?
am I too far gone for hard mewing?
I'm a little confused can you explain it better?
I don't get it if I have retruded maxilla, shouldn't I have an underbite? If I continue mewing I would get overbite, right?

Good point. What is the range of your mandible (the comfortable range for it)?
you mean how much I can make it go forward?
I can put my front teeth on top of each other kinda comfortably.
I thought I read somewhere that as the maxilla pushes forward, the mandible reshapes with it.
Yes. How far in front of your top front teeth can you comfortably place your front lower bottom teeth? Remember, the width of a nickel is 1.95 mm.
about 8 mm
That's good to know. You can seriously move your maxilla forward. Maybe get a CBCT from a local orthodontist. Where are you at?
I'm in Amsterdam.
I was actually planning on going to my old orthodontist so I'll ask if they can give me CBCT.
I forgot to say I also have a lower retainer
also about that surgery thing. Were you serious? I mean I don't think my face is that deformed right?
and the overbite problem I thought the mandible remodels together with the maxilla so I won't get an overbite. Am I correct?
?

Probably depends on what you want to do. You may be able to get by with braces or something up top. I think that the crook in the nose is related... not sure if it could be countered. Prob not. The pale coloration may be improved through forward movement/widening. You look fine. You would likely look very good if you had been breastfed or fed sitting up more with the bottle.
