I feel that I need braces as my teeth are quite crooked. However, I do not really dare to get them as I've read and heard that they cause even more down swing and narrow your bite or palate even more, or your teeth might be extracted which will also cause more recession. Is this true or is it due to the way most dentists use them?
If it's due to the way dentists use them, how would I know if the dentist I am speaking to will use them in a way to not cause anymore recession?
Thanks!
Also, what do people here think about Damon braces and the Damon system? Can invisalign be used in alignment with the Damon system?
"Damon System is based on a specific treatment philosophy to straightening teeth. Doctors doing the Damon system take into account the shape of the face, profile and what you will look like in the future."
Both systems can offer expansion depending on the provider. Provided no teeth are extracted in the process, it will likely improve the aesthetics of your face if your palate is quite narrow currently.

Thanks for the reply. May I ask how I should determine if the provider is reliable for getting expansion? Should I talk to them about mewing, IMW, forward growth, palate expansion etc.?
Also, may I ask how just aligning the teeth would expand the face/palate? I always thought that you were stuck with your palate width and your teeth could only get straighter along the shape of your palate.
Lastly, my IMW seems to be about 45mm right now. How bad is it and should it be wider?
Sorry if my questions are dumb, I know I should ultimately talk to the provider about this, but I thought I should consult some of the more experienced members here or people who have done these treatments. Also, I'm not sure how reliable the orthodontists here are when it comes to this. I've only found 1 that advertises a face mask and maxillary expander online, while I can't find any y-palate expander/homeoblock/DNA appliance providers, which really sucks.
