Am I doing it?

Hi everyone!

Excuse the closeup, but I’m just double checking that my tongue is in the right position.

With my mouth closed, my teeth touch just fine. It doesn’t feel natural but it isn’t uncomfortable and I can breathe just fine…

Is this all there is to it?

it seems very high tongue despite your palate is not that wide. That's good. How you do it? Sucking up or just pushing? Where's your tip?

This is hard to describe.

I raise the back part of my tongue until it touches the roof of my mouth, then I extend my tongue out until the rest touches. No sucking involved. The tip of my tongue isn’t quite touching my teeth; it’s a little further back, resting at the edge of the ridges before that little bump.

Does that sound right? I’m not applying any pressure, or pushing, or anything. Just leaving it there.

I have to kinda ‘flatten’ it out, but yeah: the edges of my tongue touch the edges of my back teeth.

Yeah ideally you want to be flattening your tongue as much as possible, so that it's pushing against the back teeth on either side. I don't think you'll get any palate expansion otherwise. Your tongue in the photo looks very scrunched up and narrow - I don't even think I can scrunch mine up that narrow!

Cool.

So: position is fine, but I should always flatten and kinda ‘spread’ it out either side so it touches the teeth?

Should I also be applying any pressure? I’ve been just placing it there all day, which requires minimal thought and effort. If I spread and flatten and press, it gets tiring.

well it seems that everyone got his style for mewing... Mine is just resting without pushing and make tongue as compact as possible (not flattening it), I'm trying this method since few days and I feel much pressure on cheeckbones than before

Okay!

I guess we’ll see what happens. I doubt I’ll do any damage if it isn’t perfect.

Thanks for your help, everyone!
