are front teeth meant to touch

this is what im wondering about for a long time. should my bite be straight and the front upper and lower teeth touch at rest or should the front teeth be flightly forward

also since im mewing  and chewing  (3-4 Weeks) my jaw started making clicking noises when i chew on some things is this normal

No, as far as I understand the lower and upper incisors should not touch. In a proper occlusion the rest of the teeth hold the bite. If the front teeth bite first they overload the tmj.
