Preface: I don't know if anyone else here has been to the Art Institute in Chicago. There is a huge painting on the wall. https://www.artic.edu/artworks/27992/a-sunday-on-la-grande-jatte-1884 It's composed of dots. As I sat back today and really scrutinized what's going on with these dots, it struck me...
So get this!!!!
2 things...
They are AWESOME for us. Science backs it.
Orthodontists and orthotripics and myofunctional therapists can't make a dime off it...
I cannot say what they are. You know it already. Hated. Despised. Will trade in for $$$ for others to resolve the effects of.
Here's the clue. 3rd world countries do these 2 things well & grow awesome faces. 1st worlders hate it and will avoid.
Have you got it?!?!?
Not sayin' dude.
One is even a 4-letter word. Steven Lin would get this part right.
What are you talking about lol?
Chew and poverty ?
Can't you be clearer, nobody's gonna sue you
Diet and Sunshine ?
Diet & exercise
Diet of fruits and veggies is healthy... will post a link soon more on this. Exercise I hypothesize develops a good open airway. Sunshine is good, too! Encorporated into exercise in limited amounts of UVB. Doesn't go through glass appatently... only UVA does? Wierd.
Exercise works on better utilization side and I suspect that the use of our airways through exercise (much like playing an instrument) is good for airway with bonus of it being good for body, etc. Suspect a link with less mouth breathing at night. Needs more research.
3D and 3D - 3D CBCT and 3D get around in the real life... 3D world.
Okay - so here is something. I suspect it shapes children's facial growth. https://www.webmd.com/sleep-disorders/news/20110614/exercise-improves-sleep-nighttime-breathing-troubles Would love to see before/afters of actual airway. Regardless... even if it is solely utilization efficiency trough the body... I suspect it changes if someone is a mouth or nose breather. That would/could be huge. Trying to think of athletes with bad faces... obviously, if your air is choked off, you may not feel athletic... but I'm guessing there's more to it than that. I suspect that our airway and faces change shape based on exercise and it is similar to playing an instrument in respects. However, our bodies also look hot, so exercise may be better. Our bodies adapt to light pressure consistently applied, right? Forceful breathing, I read, is not good for airway... think Wim Hof.... but they try to get us to do like Buyteko. And light, quiet deep breathing is the ultimate goal of Tai Chi and Buyteko. Tai Chi improves ADHD. And basically ADHD is airway... bit more than that... Spark book shows exercise is for mental health. 3000 ft view needed here. How many ENTs/orthos/myofunctional therapists does it take to turn on a lightbulb?
Chin tuck vs. exercise. Who are you going to bet on?
Besides... even if nothing changes in the teeth area... you might look better anyway...
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-5175065/Transformations-weight-loss-does-face.html
So... although you may be able to move your maxilla forward (and I'm not going to say not to do this if CBCT shows poor airway)... but if you exercise, you may look better anyway. Just saying!
Pretty interesting that most of the people that exercised when I was young also grew up to have good facial growth. I used to exercise and play outside a lot when I was a child but I stopped when I hit teens and my face suffered as a result. I think exercise and facial growth are definitely connected as long as you are nasal breathing most of the time with correct oral posture.

Part of that is vitamin D. Wanna hear something crazy?! Why aren't there darker people far away from the equator (generally speaking.. outside of those who eat tons of fish... like inuits)...?
This is no lie! Watch 5:00 - 5:30 on this... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8eJQr9pUQc8&t=375s I spoke with a very awesome dentist who actually has some pretty nice facial results. Guess what? She wouldn't share details of her treatment secrets, but she did let on by mentioning sunlight. WOW. Vitamin D is best naturally.
Oh, and fish have vitamin d naturally.
And yes! As you exercise.. then you're working your airway similar to playing an instrument, right? OSA can be helped by playing certain instruments. You need to be cautious in winter, though, or cautious of overdoing it, because otherwise you can end up with airway injury. Part of that is dry air.. part of that is cold (colder means less moisture). So you want to be careful and moderate. But if you are exercising... then you are able to have a high oxygen utilization! That means you're not stressed so much for air... which means you can BREATHE through your nose most likely. If you want to not mouth breathe at night... maybe try exercising?! Here's the thing... I think this whole airway group (ENTs, orthodontists and orthotropics and myofunctional therapists and psychiatrist)... they are treating us for not exercising. Yikes! And why would anyone say that?! Who profits on us exercising?! Nobody!
For all the space creating of orthodontic treatment... it's just trying to create space. What's pushing from the inside out? What about light forces over time where our bodies adapt and biologically respond? Cutting up someone's throat (adenoid and tonsils)... sure that can possibly grow the airway. But check this out: https://www.facebook.com/maxplanckgesellschaft/videos/1896407567037041/ Now, during rest his airway has a certain size... but you can see how much it changes. What about exercise?! Who's going to do a CBCT before/after who decided to quit being sedentary? IF an adult can grow their airway with a little exercise, thats something inriguing. This would be interesting for kids, who generally respond much faster. You can't test as well on a child, though, because they're always growing as is. :-) Basically, let kids be kids and feed them healthy foods. We are in the driver's seat for thier health.
Anyway, regardless, if exercise cuts down on mouth breathing at night... then there you go. Better faces. Not only that, sexier bodies!
