Hi all,
Just wanted to do a quick experiment. For those that have been mouth breathers their whole lives (keeping the tongue on the bottom of your mouth instead of proper tongue position where it should rest on the top), have you been able to trill your R's? I'm talking about the common roll of r's in any Spanish language.

Spanish was my first language and I have always been a mouth breather. So yes.

I'm a mouth breather, portuguese, and I have trouble making others understand me, for people who are not used talking to me I have to repeat three times before they understand me, I did not isolate the parts I don't pronunciate correctly, and there are better days than others...
My tongue position was between my teeth... I have a wide palate > 50mm but have a all sort of other problems that came from mouth breathing, my whole jaw is weird...
I think I may have prognatism or bimax protrusion, and the prognatism is causing TMJ or TMD
I mouth breathed through some of my childhood but I never had any trouble rolling my r's. In fact I was always quite good at it while other people I knew had trouble.
