I've gotten my spirit crushed when I got braces and now too seeing my reflection on a car mirror and my mandible is sinking upwards. A few things in life made me emotionaless from the sheer degeneracy and cruel nature. People walking the rest of their earthly lives with poor sleep, poor looks, and everything else that goes with it. I know I sound crazy, but I just want to have the best life I can, your looks don't mean everything, but these people(dentists) know they ruined faces and they have not yet found out the physical pain that is brought with it. I hate it when I see a baby(typically a family member) get fed soft foods I already see them with eye bags, less than a year old there are eyebags, SNORING in a fucking baby. I'm almost in tears writing this I hope my mother can understand these concepts, another thing is that she speaks a different first langauage and she may not understand these things.
I'm not depressed, suicidal, sad, or mad, that's stupid now that I think of it you can still live on with this, but not well or that long to be honest. If I get my braces removed it will be ONE tooth that is prominent to someone's attention. I WILL fight to get them removed if I have to have to it will be painful, but worth it. And I want to ask my dentist if they have seen their patients get their face ruined. If I'm the only one that understands what I'm doing, then that's who I'll be.
For the sake of my health.
But another thing I know is that you and I can prosper in our lifetime. You either go up or down every single day. If you choose to eat junk for a whole day you just got a little unhealthy from that day, but if you do that for a whole year where has your life headed? DOWN. I am committed to making the healthiest and happiest life I can and that starts by fighting the things that are bad for you. Horrible thoughts, addiction, unproductiveness and so on. I don't care if my mom thinks I'm insane I know I am not most people will know about orthotropics within 10 years. Getting my braces off will be in the top 5 of my best life descions.
Share your thoughts, be honest about this post, descion, and me as a person.
Your dentist can't force treatment to continue, no. If you (your parents) request the braces be taken off, they will have to take them off.
I don't doubt that there will be some class-action lawsuits coming down the pipeline as proper development ideas take fruition.
I feel your pain about seeing kids with poor development. I have a nephew who is being bottle fed, and his face as an infant is already very recessed. He has under eye circles - as an infant. It's hard to bring up these issues, because I'm essentially telling the parents that their baby is ugly and not developed properly, which is very hard to do without insulting them. They've taken some points into consideration, like getting him a myofunctional therapist when he's older, but in general people tend to trust their doctors/dentists about all issues being genetic.
Thank you, TGW. I hope your nephew will be in good hands. And another is that your nephew will lose 15 IQ points permanently due to sleep apnea, if you don't have it treated within the ages of 7-8.

idk about this bro, i slept terrible all my life and i scored around 140 last time i was screened which was in highschool.
It's not about how well you sleep or not... it's about the oxygenation drops. See here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQXilP5BTVs
I’m in the same situation I’m really considering stopping my orthodontic treatment. When I look at pictures I see how it has changed my features and I think it’s best to stop . No one can keep you doing something you don’t think is helping. And I think it would be very brave if you tell your orthodontist how you feel. I’m just going to quit and tell them I moved or something I don’t have the guts to tell them I don’t like the results. Good luck.
