Hello:
The closest state to me is Florida, and I'm looking for consultations for maxillary palate expanders. Would anyone that resides in the Florida area recommend me one?
Dr. Juan-Carlos Quintero in Miami uses CBCT. He is an early adopter and has impressive airway results. You can see a video of him and his son on i-Cat. He is a lead teacher at the prestigious 3D congress. If you don't actually need palatal separation, I'd go a slower route for high arched palate, depending on age. I see the tides shifting on airway treatments to not break the palatal sutcher. Bringing down a high arch at a slower, controlled speed seems to be the future. However, the main intent is to recreate what would have been the case under healthier conditions. I have split the difference for mixed-dention... a mm or two of RPE followed by braces (to offset nasal allergy potential). This newer concept of not breaking the palate is touted by Damon braces and even Dr. Sue Lee. I am intrigued by this in the fast-shifting world of airway ortho. Scratching the surface... though at this point... I am liking alf with braces.... DNA wireframe and of course Dr. Sue Lee's invention! She is brilliant.
Thank you. I just read his blog. Although he hasn't updated in a while it sure shows he puts a lot of value on airway.

Yes, his blog kind of dropped off. I am interested, though, in some other new information. Adenoid removal may not be necessary for these kids. Sue Lee is kind of a leader now. Some people are leading new areas in airway and because it's vastly changing, there may always be some new angle. The speed of information is just not keeping up with the progress of ideas/hunches that tend to be all that we have now for the most pertainent areas of health. Truth is, few care about health. Nobody cares about health unless they're impacted by it. Nobody does. They care about aesthetics. Nobody cares. That's so crazy, isn't it?
