I got an AGGA appliance fitted recently and now that I'm reading more, it seems to just modify the alveolar ridge potentially leading to bone loss in the front. Has anyone had experiences where it actually causes the desired remodeling of the maxilla? I don't plan to have the AGGA for too long, only hoping for 3-4mm
I'm wondering if correct tongue posture will prevent further tipping of the teeth or potentially increase the chances of remodeling?
I also attached my Xray in case if this helps get a better idea of my case.
@TGW has done a lot of research on this appliance and stated that he was unable to find any proof from a number of doctors in regards to upper maxilla remodeling and the inventors of the appliance have yet to show any proof.
3-4mm in advancement shouldn’t cause any harm, but the amount of good it will do is up for debate.
I almost got AGGA, but have continued to research other avenues. The dentist I spoke too had one in her mouth and got 4mm, many of her assistants were treated with it as well. They all stopped at around 4mm. She also said teeth tipping is corrected in the controlled arch braces phase.
They encourage proper tongue posture during and after treatment.
