Incisors shifting apart?

Hi guys so i began my mewing journey around 2/3 weeks ago and in that time i also stopped wearing my removable transparent retainer.  I noticed a gap starting to form between my front top two teeth several days after i stopped wearing my retainer.  After i noticed this gap it scared me a bit and i put my retainer back in and the gap disappeared within 2 days or so.  I have a few questions,  is mewing supposed to move the incisors apart because of palate expansion?  If so will the gap within the incisors eventually even out and my teeth will come back together?  Or do you think its just more likely that my gap was not caused by mewing and simply because i took around 2 weeks off of retainer use.  If the incisors gap is natural, do you guys think i should stop using my retainer or still use it while continuing to mew.  I just think if the gap is supposed to happen i might be affecting the potential growth that mewing will give me.  Sorry bout all the questions im new to this stuff, thanks guys

Most of the answers to your questions depend on one thing, what was done to your teeth while in braces? Can you please be detailed in answering this.

Two possibilities:

1) your palate is expanding very fast - which is easily verifiable if you have been keeping track of your intermolar width.

2) Your teeth are shifting to positions and angles the rest of the occlusional structure prefers them to reside at. The teeth will always return the spot of least resistance in terms of posture & chewing, given that nothing is keeping them fixed in their previous positions (which is what the retainer seeks to achieve).

There is a risk that by taking the retainer off for good, your incisors will remain separated like that, unless you undergo further orthodontic work after you are finished with mewing. There is also a small possibility that correct oral posture will be enough to fix the issue over time. In any case, it's likely that keeping the retainer in place will not prevent you from achieving changes from mewing.

Thanks for the reply, pretty sure it’s due to palate expansion. Do you think that wearing an Invisalign retainer is fine at night? I read around about certain retainer types (like hawley) would restrict growth from mewing, and other types are fine. However I couldn’t really find any responses for Invisalign retainers about the if it doesn’t matter or if it prevents growth.
