I would say my worst feature is my vertically long nose , I doubt mewing can save me but I was wondering if it was in my genes to develop a long midface or if it was CFD. Every sibling of my mother either has a compact midface or a longish midface at the very most, and coincidentally my mother has many CFD features (her new dentist commented on how narrow her palate is). Though long midfaces seem to be widespread among Arabs (for example Bin Laden), I would say a long midface without compensatory extra skull width is a big sign of CFD. As an example I would mention SS officer Reinhard Heydrich. Guy had an usually long midface for a German but on the other side his skull wasn't narrow, also his lower third was quite solid.
African face: vertically short maxilla, shorter midface (eyes spaced further, nose shorter), face narrow and hyperdivergent (tendency to more open bite)
European face: vertically short maxilla, longer midface (eyes spaced closer, nose longer), face wider and hypodivergent (tendency to overbite)
Asian face: vertically long maxilla, midface medium length (eyes not spaced as far as African but not as close as European with a nose length between the two), face form wide but closer to hypodivergent than hyperdivergent (evidenced by common bimax in females).
I wonder if the vertically longer maxilla in Asians makes bimax more prominent if lip seal isn't proper?
African faces have the shortest midface ratios even though their faces are actually the most narrow (African skulls develop the least bony prominence in any direction). This is because the eyes are spaced wide and the vertical length of the skull is still short. European faces grow the most laterally and vertically yet the midface is narrower due to the interpupillary distance and the longer noses/longest philtrum. Asian faces are somewhere in the middle. Basically African skulls grow the least away from the face (eyes, nose, mouth) while European skulls grow the most away from the face (which is why the foreheads are higher, ramus longer, and zygos further out).
On average, correct, but it's kind of a common belief that Caucasians have a longer nose the further south you go. The stereotypical nordic has hooded light eyes, a strong chin, thin lips and a short nose. The stereotypical Middle Eastern has almond shaped dark eyes with upper eyelid exposure, a weak chin, fuller lips and a long nose. It almost seems like nordics are natural mewers, whereas Arabs are born with CFD.

Eh. Maybe. I can assume it may be related to environment. Nordic types may have shorter noses but they have longer philtrums than Southern Europeans who have fuller lips and fleshier features (and shorter faces overall).
One characteristic feature of Italian faces is their short vertical length. Yes the nose appears large but it is only because the skull itself isn't long vertically. Their foreheads are shorter as well as their lower thirds. But I do think their midface ratios are helped by their fleshy features and shorter philtrum lengths. I don't think Southern Europeans have different midface ratios than Northerners, I just think the nose and philtrum make up a different proportion in the same facial height.
Mediterranean skulls are short and narrow faced, so in essence the Mew lines may still be low which keeps the midface from being overly narrow. So yes, while the Southern nose is longer than the Northern one, the overall facial height is still low.
Yes, I see your point. That's probably why someone like George Clooney is never mistaken for a Southern European despite his dark colouring. He has a short nose and a long philtrum, typically seen in Northern Europeans. If we were to reverse them (long nose + short philtrum) I'm sure many people would start thinking he is Mediterannean.
