I thought about ditching my Essix Retainer for a permanent one over the top 4 and bottom 8 tooth as explained by Mike Mew here:

That should make it possible to widen the arch with mewing.

Do you think that the maxilla will come upward and forward too or will the permanent retainer over the front teeth block the movement somehow?
