Be honest is it really possible to see a decent level of maxillary upswing without surgery as an adult in your experience (atleast 4 millimeters over 5 years)?
Two reliable sources have revealed there results, one with 8 years of mewing one with 6. Sarah hornsby and claiming power admin have achieved maybe 3mm maximum advancment in this time. Perhaps they are not hard mewing or utilising a diet with bone growing vitamins idk, but i just want realistic expectations rather than constantly analysing my face for a few years and see like 1 or 2 mms difference haha.
Thanks to anyone who takes time out of their day to reply!
I am of the opinion that the maxilla is not the only deficiency for most people - it's just the easiest place to begin analysis and also works well to explain how tongue posture works.
Professor Mew has discussed the idea that X-rays are hard to read in before/Afters because all of the bones change shape and position relative to each other. At first I found this hard to understand, now (having seen results published publically and sent privately) I am very convinced that a deficiency in the maxilla actually betrays growth deficiencies throughout the skull bones.
A recurring trend I have seen (disclosed publically and privately) is that the one of the first physical changes people see is hooded eyes, or decreased upper eyelid exposure. This is happening (in my opinion) as a result of the combined corrected posture as well as movement and reforming of the cranial bones.
Results will vary significantly for different people, and I think the craniofacial dystrophy is not constistant in it's location due to the wide variety of causes (forceps birth, mouth breathing, tight muscles, injury etc).
That is to say, some people have deficient craniums (occiputal, temporalis etc), others have deficient faces (maxilla, zygos and such). And most have a combination of the two.
What gets fixed depends on what is wrong in the first place. I'm getting a good eye for detecting these deficiencies, and I think the prevalance is well above 90% in the modern world.
I apologise that this didn't directly answer your question, this topic will be expounded upon in an article. If your maxilla is the one deficiency that you have, you will see it rapidly correct with the proper techniques. Like most people, however, it's likely a lot of changes across the skull that will happen as you incrementally "unwind". Unwinding is a little understood phenomenon, but best explains what is being accomplished.
Here's an article about it from the International Journal of Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork :

Thanks for the reply, this unwinding concept makes sense. Ive had similar thoughts basically treating the body as a primal unit should lead to some form of change over time
