The danger of super erupting wisdom teeth

I think this is an important but over looked issue regarding the correction of ones facial growth, and it presents a sort of catch 22 situation: As you begin to practice mewing, it is not unlikely that your wisdom teeth will start to erupt. This is generally a good thing, and for some, the first sign that they are making progress. But, if you have an uneven set of wisdom teeth, and feel like a fully erupted tooth is starting the grow even further, then trouble is knocking at your door. You obviously don’t want to extract the tooth, as it may lead to bone loss. But if you don’t extract the tooth, you run the risk of damaging your gums. It is also not uncommon for super erupted teeth to eventually fall out by themselves anyways. So, simply keeping the tooth for the sake of keeping it, seems, ironically, not like the best strategy to keep it. One could of course stop mewing altogether and hope that the process comes to a halt, but obviously this is not ideal. Thus the catch 22 arises. How does one keep growing the face without creating a new problem like this? I think everyone else who has a uneven set of wisdom teeth should start to think about this as soon and early as possible, so they have a plan before they run into the issues presented above. I am personally terrified of this, as this seems to be happing to me right now. And it feels demoralising thinking to stop mewing, right as progress has started taking place.

If you have any idea about how to tackle this issue, if you are facing it currently, or if you even managed to solve it, please let us know.

It seems to me that the best solution would be to get a tooth implant to replace the missing tooth, thus stopping the opposing tooth from super erupting. However, if you had your tooth extracted in the first place, it was probably because you lacked space. And you probably won’t have more room as this issue arises. Maybe one could get a smaller implant. But I don’t know if that would work in the long run as the ones oral volume increases. Not to speak of the potential, immediate discomfort if the implant doesn’t really match the opposing tooth.

The fear of bone loss and facial sagging is what has kept me from getting mine out (I'm 27), despite one of them being black and routinely getting infected leading to nightmare levels of pain. I am not sure if they have erupted enough to be in contact with each other, but I have to go to the dentist tomorrow, so I can ask him about all of this. If it means anything, the dentist has probably a strong 7-8 face and he said he got his out at 26.

I asked the dentist about all of this and he said that the wisdom teeth are so far back that they wouldn't cause any facial sagging from bone loss - I got a good look of his face and there's no indication of any of those issues, since he has a pretty forward face. Since it's not possible to see the oral surgeon now, he said he would extract just the one wisdom tooth that is infected/decayed; somehow he said only getting that one out wouldn't affect my bite, which is something I've never heard anyone say online, but believing a random forum user over the guy who spent years at university would be retarded.

In such a situation, you should contact the dentist, as only he will be able to correct the situation. The main thing is to find a good specialist, as now many dentists are extremely negligent in their work. I have often encountered such an attitude on the part of dentists. I've changed four dentists in the last two months until I found one at https://perfectasmile.com . It's just that all the doctors didn't hear my demands and did procedures that gave me discomfort (they didn't even give me painkillers). You will be fine if you find a qualified specialist.

@sarakat
If understood correctly, did you resolve this particular issue yourself? Negligent or ignorant dentist/orthodontist is indeed a problem...

Many dentists have wanted to take out my wisdom teeth. I have TMJ on one side due to traumatic and aggressive orthodontic treatment.

I am currently wearing an ALF appliance for this issue. I asked my practitioner about my wisdom teeth and he explained that he never advocates removal. He said that even if impacted, they are preserving space in the jaws and palate.

I like his perspective about creating space vs. conventional western medicine that is all too keen on removing from the body.

I don’t know of this applies to you but in terms of a tooth falling out, I can only imagine would be due to infection. My opinion, but I do not think the innate intelligence of the body would shed a tooth unless pathogenic stimulus.

in my case, less contact on the mandible wisdom tooth as it was erupting led to my upper occlusion migrating forward to create contact, creating a pseudo class 2 bite. The have to consciously focus on sucking my jaw back. As I did so, I realized my shoulder was forward on that side, and bringing my shoulder back brought my head (and maxilla) back as well.

There are muscles that connect the mandible - tongue, to the mastoid process of the temporal bone behind the ear- that then connect to the spine of the scapula.

I bring up this information because shoulder posture affects tooth eruption due to jaw and maxilla placement.

To clarify, it is through the hyoid muscles that connect the jaw to the shoulder.

Also, check out ozone therapy for healing infection. Some cases people were able to avoid removal or a root canal with ozone.

I apologize for missing your post about that.

@snailgoo89 (Not sure if your post was meant for OP or me) Like I said above, I ended up having only one of my wisdom teeth taken out in March because the surrounding gum kept getting infected, which led to nightmare levels of pain, and then I eventually bit a giant chunk of it off because it was so rotten, so I guess I couldn't really have avoided getting it pulled, but as everyone here agrees, I don't know why anyone would want to get them pulled unless it was totally necessary - it seems most people are just misled by the money hungry dentist. Mine was around 2.5 months ago and the healing still seems slow, as I'm still afraid to touch the space with my toothbrush. As far as any postural problems or anything like that, I don't notice anything, but I still feel a little sorrow about it. If I ever get the chance to crossdress for a senile billionaire, maybe I'll get an implant back there haha

I’m sorry you are in pain and that you experiencing it after removal. Perhaps finding a dentist that practices ozone can help with healing and sensitivity.

also, for the bite, maybe looking into a flat plane mandibular splint to wear at night and during exercise can offset any instability in your bite .

Also, I had some gum recession on a back molar for years! Horrible pain and sensitivity. Dentists were threatening to remove it or root canal it. I was able to heal it.

I started brushing with baking soda and dipping my toothbrush with hydrogen peroxide. Then i swished with oregano 🌿 oil mixed in olive oil. Oregano is a potent antibacterial and antiviral, but does not harm human cells. I finished with using a toothpaste I found on Amazon that remineralizes without fluoride. It contains calcium bicarbonate which can remineralize your teeth. I also use coconut oil once a week ; swish for 3 minutes and spit out. This pulls bacteria out of the gums and the oil costs the teeth and gums , protecting it from acids.

this regime significantly helped my teeth and gums, and may help prevent any issues in the future.

Sending Metta your way 🙏🏽.
