Hey,
I don’t have recession, yet my smile is off. My teeth are very back and don’t seem to protude out of my mouth, thus they are barely visible. It seems like my palate is not the issue (44 mm inter molar width) while it still is high arched.
Any ideas what seems wrong?
Thanks in advance.

Pics of just your teeth or arch? Do you have an overbite?
Hey remember our DM conversation? You have pictures of me.
No overbite. I had an underbite my entire life. Mewing partially reversed it.
The front of my palate seems narrow compared to the back. I don't know I'm no expert, what is going on here?
I have forward growth, to the point I am not recessed and get compliments on my jawline but my smile is really off.
I'm 23 now and have been Mewing since I am 18.
I don't see anything wrong man. Nice looking arch, straight teeth. I don't know what kind of smile you're talking about when you talk about protruding teeth.
The only thing 'off' I see is an apparent lip corner asymmetry (do you chew mostly on the side with the higher lip corner?) and asymmetry in the the teeth next to your front teeth. Also one side of your upper teeth seem to touch the lower molars better than the other side.
Thanks for your review. Sorry for the bad explanation. I meant with „protruding“ teeth that some people have it really easy to expose their teeth by lightly opening their mouth while I have to smile really hard to make my teeth show.
About the asymmetry you mentioned: I try to chew equally on both side, alternating every 15 minutes. I thought that the lip and teeth asymmetry was caused by a more collapsed maxilla on one side. How could I fix it?
Thanks a lot man!
I remember now. Sorry I don't remember names, but pics. Maybe the only thing I would recommend is to push harder on your canined with your tongue. This will widen the front of the maxilla.
Aah, well I don't see it on your pictures. But maybe it felt like a lot of effort to smile like you did in that picture? Now I understand what you mean, I think it's not a dental issue, but a muscular issue. It reminds me of this case study: https://www.researchgate.net/figure/Example-of-the-evolution-of-a-male-patient-after-performing-the-myofunctional-treatment_fig1_317661811
This man couldn't open his mouth very far. So of course it cost a lot of effort. Perhaps you can do what's mentioned in this article or visit a oromyofunctional therapist. In the article they talk about strengthening the lip and cheek muscles. I can recommend the Facial-flex for that.
About the lip: I don't know. I have one lower lip corner and I think it's because of chewing on my other side. I don't know what else could be a cause.
About the teeth: it looks like your teeth are already very straight, so braces aren't the answer. It looks like that one tooth next to your upper front tooth is just naturally smaller than the other, I see it on the view from below as well. If you want perfect symmetry, I would go for a porcelain veneer. Since you want the tooth to be bigger, it should be possible to do without having to file down the tooth.
PS: off topic, but I'm really curious about your before pictures! I have yet to see any results from my attempt at Mewing. I would love some forward growth.
Hey man, I don't have problems opening my mouth. It's just I have to open my mouth much more to show my teeth which makes my smile extreme, while others teeth are even visible while they talk or open their mouth very slightly, especially in attractive people.
And sure, I will DM you my pictures with the before and afters.
Are you sure? Because your mouth does look a bit tense, though that could be because your smile might not be natural and relaxed here (correct me if I'm wrong, it looks like you are opening your mouth sideways instead of smiling). I don't see any other possible explanation for your problem. Well maybe because some teeth are on the smaller side.
Take a look if this is the kind of change you want:
(I googled 'veneers small teeth')
Also, it's normal to barely see anything of the lower teeth when smiling and your upper teeth are almost completely visible. You don't want more, gummy smile isn't beautiful.
Maybe you are just comparing yourself with people with naturally wider lips and wider smiles? Not everyone is built like Julia Roberts and that's okay.
It was very interesting to see your pictures since we have almost an identical bite! I also had a small tendencey of an underbite before mewing and now my bite looks very similiar to yours. My theory is that we both have rather small teeth and that is the reason to why our teeth won´t show as much as in other people when they smile or talk. Personally as a man I don´t think it´s too much of an issue, it would have been way worse to have horse-like teeth or buck teeth that was showing no matter what we do. Sure a nice wide smile with white teeth looks good on everyone but I do believe it´s more important for women, we men can get away with having straight teeth as long as we have other good traits such as good jawline, wide face, symmetry etc.
I guess what im trying to say is, don´t overthink this and keep mewing.
Best regards,
Idk man it might be your muscle use. You need to uze your whole face to smile, not just your mouth. That will expose your teeth more.
