I ve read quite a lot about facepulling in the past and i am curious what your expieriences with facepulling are.

If you tried facepulling, which method (belt, mouthguard, platos) did u use and how long were your sessions? Some people seem to get good results from it and some say it can damge your skull and theets. I tried using a molded mouthguard, attached shoelaces to it and pulled up and forward for about 30 minutes. I can feel the tension in my cheeksbones but i am wondering if this really contributes to forward growth of the maxilla or if it only damages the skull.

I think Mike Mew says that facepulling only makes sense if you do it for a long period (12h +) with light force.

What are your experiences?

I have some experience with facepulling. I've tried two different styles and this is what I can say about it:

The first method I tried was Plato's method using braces attached to the teeth and rubber bands connected to the braces using paperclips. I pulled using my hands in an outward and upward direction based on what felt good for about 30 minutes each night. I did this for about a month to see if there were any changes.

My results from using this method were lackluster if there were any at all. I might have been able to move my face forward a little bit but I can't say for sure that the results were actually good and aesthetically pleasing. I might have been creating even more imbalance and issues. Thankfully everything reverted back after stopping.

The next method I tried was to pull just using my hands inside of my mouth by pushing up and pulling against the side walls of the palate or by pushing and pulling my teeth in certain directions based on where I feel they should go. I usually only do this for a few minutes at a time very gently based on what feels good.

My results from this method are more interesting. Using this method I have been able to shift my midline a bit over a few days time, and I have been able to create some expansion. But it is very hard to make the changes permanent. They seem to always revert back once I stop. I haven't paid attention to the aesthetic results from this method because I found that I got much better results in that department from mewing and chewing properly.
