Hello! You may know me on another forum, where I brazenly show my face. I started in January on the 1st of 2017, without anything but my tongue and random chewing of gum.
Next month I'll be seeing a dental office that follows Orthotropics and is very knowledgeable from what I've heard for an exam that's 2 hours long apparently! I'll post what I learn, and share it with others.
Along my journey, I've taken pictures with the same camera and a similar distance - and to be fair the iPhone 7 DOES elongate the face. In a mirror, I'm not nearly so sour lol.
But you can see what's happened with subtle changes. I noticed a reduction of scalarial show maybe? About 1 mm. Also I can't know but it seems my face is a touch wider... at the cheekbones? Wishful thinking? Love your feedback!
Info:
Side sleeper, can't keep jaw shut, TMJ, with mostly okay swallowing habits
Thanks for joining us!
The largest improvement I can see is an improvement in facial symmetry. Your left side has moved up. The bottom jaw is now more even on both sides. It also looks like you have a better lip seal at rest, indicating forward movement of the mandible/maxilla. Your face is a little bit wider, which would happen if the maxilla moved forward - the cheekbones are definitely more prominent. Nice eyes
Symmetry changes are the first things to happen, then positioning forward. After 9 months though: I think you may need to start applying more force throughout the day when you push, or perhaps try giving a few solid pushes/pulls on the maxilla to loosen the sutures up. NCR did this for me, facepulling even with your thumbs can also accomplish this. One method I have been testing (after someone else had great success with it) is hard tongue pushing while hanging your head upside down - gravity is pushing the maxilla forward and your tongue is adding more force. The object isn't to shift the maxilla significantly, only enough to loosen the sutures and kick start growth/movement at those sites.
What do you personally think the changes have been? How is your breathing, and side view of your face?
For my changes, yes the breathing! So much better and clearer. Also, just trying to chew food and swallow differently. My poof around my mouth (buccinators to get technical) is way less.
For pics, these are less accurate. They are taken from various distances and angles, making some of my earlier shots almost look better than later - but it's good for us to see and understand.

The Right Side:
I'm going to focus more on pushing and trying to get it to be subconscious. It's still sometimes hard for me to remember and I catch myself with a dropped tongue sometimes - but I work hard each day to try
It doesn't look like anything changed from the front but the side views look very different. Has anyone commented IRL?

No, not at all. I don't have any drastic changes yet, so I think it would take something major. People just say I look better, less tired, more refreshed. Especially lately since I wear hooded eye tape to make my eyes less sad or angry looking lol
Yay, How hard were you pressing the roof of your mouth?
Greetings! I hope you get better every day. Have you got some kind of pain in your teeth or joint ?
I can see a huge difference, in symmetry, eye appearance and emerging cheek bones. GREAT JOB
Updates: Hi again! So to answer some questions - yes I have jaw pain and issues. .. what I found out in my latest appointment is really good so I'm making a new post :)

I did this straight for 4 Months. Now my Eyes are very very asymmetrical. My left eye is a lot higher than the other one. Does anybody know why that is and how to improve this? I become very ugly and People stare at me like i am weird when i talk to them. I wish i never did this sh**. Sorry for my english btw, im from germany.
@yay the results are visible, I wouldn't pinpoint anything in particular, maybe the eye shape, but the overall face just looks a bit more developed.
Where are you from and who are you visiting, can you give me his contact? I am trying to find an expert for so long but am failing to find adequate help, I am more interested in the functional aspect than appearance, in short, I'm struggling from back pain since I had bad orthodontic work.
Definitely imoroved cheekbones and more forward chin, nice job. I wonder what would happen if you chew gum every day
I don't see any difference tb very honest with you it's seems the change was because of the camera angle and the light .. Maybe this worked for people who didn't hit puberty.. But for us oldies I am not sure tbh... I haven't see one solid Pic this this works for adults yet.. I really want this to work I am with you mewing too.. But I doubt it would work.
Amazing results! It’s so refreshing seeing somebody be able to achieve results like this in a span of 9 months!
Can you shed some light into how hard you were pushing your tongue up and also what was your general routine?
thanks!
Completely agree. Along with cheekbones moving upwards and asymmetry improving the mandible moves forward as well.
@kxxk Hi, I hope this gives you hope: https://tmdocclusion.com/home/causes-of-malocclusion/the-work-of-john-mew-orthotropics/
Keep scrolling and you'll find the case of this girl Cary, she was 20 years old and she improved significantly :)
You need to keep doing it, I’ve heard that can happen, but will even back out as you progress. Just try to make sure you are applying even pressure. Don’t give up, you’ll be great!
