Hey Everyone,
First off I would like to say I am grateful for the information that is complied on this sight regarding oral posture, skull development and body posture. I feel this information should be more readily available to the public for function/health and vanity reasons.
I have had bad oral posture growing up, but fortunately did not mouth breath much. I had an under-bite which warrented many years of retainers from my orthodontist. I had trouble chewing on food during adolescence and did a lot of slouching.
I believe because of my ignorance regarding oral posture and body posture my jaws have not grown ideally, as well as my under-eyes and cheekbones. I also believe it is the cause of my assymetries and perhaps my small lips when veiwed from the profile.
Here is an album of my face: https://imgur.com/a/4ZlgQCi
I would appreciate if any of you could answer some questions for me regarding my photos.
1. Are the pictures I provided adequate? Lighting, head tilt, angles etc?
2. What do you think of my facial development? I believe my upper and lower jaws did not reach their potential, as well as my undereys and cheek bones. Is my facial development average, or poor in your opinion?
3. Do you believe I could attain facial changes now that I am applying proper posture and function? My palate is narrow, as seen in my smile picture. I don't have the measurements but my tongue lies on my palate akin to a pancake on a frying pan that's too small. The tongue rides up the sides of my molars but not to the point I bite on it when I close my mouth.
4. If changes could be made, is it possible I could also fix my facial asymmetries? Should I apply more pressure to my palate on the weaker half of my face? What about lip changes?
5. Would you recommend palate expansion? If so, what methods can the average guy take to expand the palate safley?
Thank you, I wrote this out on the phone so excuse the errors. Also forgive my edit.
The most important question regarding pictures is: will you be able to take photos in that same spot, angle and lightning for the next 2-5 years? I took mine in front of a white door to my apartment. I had zero idea that a year later the building administrator would decide to change all the doors, and that they would be black. So much for identical variables.
You have a typical modern face. Recessed enough to matter, developed enough to function. The details of your skeletal imbalance are harder to pinpoint, apart from the palatal width. It seems as if the skull overall has melted by the frontal-temporal-occipital:

Which fits well with what you have revealed about your history of sloughing and ineffective chewing. When you learn to cram the tongue against the skull base of the skull & the jaws, your skull should being to open up by the forementioned "line of collapsion":

Whether the end results are as drastic as this is another question. But this should give you a sense of what to look out for.
I hid a few irrelevant comments from this thread. Where you come from does not matter here. Everyone is welcome to contribute. Non-contribution is not accepted.
Thank you for the detailed reply.
So you would say I am recessed similarly to the average modern human?
I will try to take some pictures in lighting and location I know I will be able to in years time.
You look decently developed IMO. Of course, there is still recession but it's not at all like you're a poster child for bad facial growth. I'd say you're within average range. From the frontal view, your face looks wide and your jaws look defined. By the way, you seem to be craning your head upwards so the side photos aren't totally accurate, though I do question how many people actually stand "at attention" with perfect head posture, even if their face is great.
I really wanted to know the ideal posture of the head
