Hey Guys,
Im 20 and I have been working (and struggling) with my tongue posture for the last 3 months. For these 3 Months nothing much happened. I got an interpolar width of 30mm. I got frustrated and read a lot of other posts on this website and learned about hard mewing. With hard mewing I mean not only keeping the tongue up there via suction hold, but pushing with the tongue to the sides. I was thinking to give it a try. And after 3 days i was shocked. Like really shocked. My interpolar width increased about 4 mm. BUT. But my bone structure didn´t change at all. It was my teeth that changed. They are tilting a bit away from my tongue and I guess that is the reason for the increase of the intermolar width. I´m not really happy though. Im worried. Is this normal ? I think hard mewing might be a bit to much maybe ??
One positive thing though is that my tongue fits much better up there but what do you guys think? Should I just stick with keeping the tongue up there with suctionhold?
Thanks
Isoss
I'm not an expert, but to be honest, it doesn't sound natural. The goal is not to tip your teeth, the goal is to expand the palate.
If you're struggling with your tongue posture, don't hard mew. Do an extreme chin tuck, then do a proper swallow (think "aim for the throat." You want the back of your tongue to basically make contact with your throat when you're swallowing). Then do this 100 times a day.
This will make your tongue stronger over the course of a few weeks, and soon you'll be able to mew properly.

By this do you mean you were pushing outwards against the inside of your teeth? It sounds like you're experiencing tipping and that's exactly what you don't want, when your teeth move rapidly like that it can result in gum damage/loss. Simply push upwards and don't push outwards against your teeth, but if your tongue is resting on the inside of your teeth while you hard mew then that's fine. Hard mewing doesn't work for everyone, so either revert back to the section hold or try to fix your technique.

Yo
I feel my Adam's nut smashing against the back of my throat when swallowing in this position. Yes i feel that, it's quite painful though, do you feel the pain on your lower throat too?
Yo
i had the same and did the same in my case only the back molars got tipped out but just keep the tongue their do lots of swallows and tongue chewing and you will get more width just upwards and forwards to the side is to risky mwith a smaller inter molar width
mine went from 31mm to 33mm just by holding it their overday
