Usually pain indicates a problem.  Your body is speaking.  Listen carefully.

My teeth hurt so bad the first week I could barely eat french fries. Went away when the palate got wider. Does it feel like braces?

Pain that is located near the roots of the teeth is normal and indicative of teeth shifting due to palatal expansion and/or maxillary movement. As it was said above, listen to your body - allow it time to adapt to and recover from the exertion
