I just started the AGGA treatment and I’m starting to feel a little nervous after reading about it here. I’m planned to get around 3-4mm of forward growth, after which I will get braces with a ALF appliance.
I wanted to ask, does the ALF modify the palatal sutures at all? Should I try to get MARPE/MSE after 3-4 months of AGGA, is this even possible?
Also, to note, I have a cross bite (narrow upper) and a slight underbite. Would the MSE have avoided AGGA completely and am I at risk for bone loss?
Here’s some before and afters of the Quantum ALF I recently found. Top is after. This patient is an adult and it made him stop snoring. These results look good but I think the consensus is that MSE would expand much better than anything else since it’s technically surgical.
I did but I think they got removed. Check out the ALF educational institute’s Instagram they have casts on there
Hey - if you haven't seen the video that Ronald Ead just posted on YouTube (channel: JawHacks) you may want to take a look. It looks like AGGA may have really damaged his front upper six. All six are loose, he can visibly wiggle them on camera.
It's really shocking to see, and a bit unsettling since I was also considering an appliance-based approach to my problems (although the DNA Appliance, so it's only worn for part of the day, not mounted in 24x7).
I almost did AGGA but luckily the lab was late on delivering the appliance which in the meantime I was able to do more research which ultimately changed my mind to doing ALF instead. I’m starting early summer and plan to update periodically.

I’ll look forward to following your progress!
