Hey guys... I've been trying to get proper tongue placement for about a month. I use driving, netflix, or youtube as my triggers to remember to mew.  It has definitely helped my airways through nose breathing.

The Problem: last few days when I woke up my jaw muscles were sore and when I brought my teeth together my lower front teeth would line up with my top front teeth (like I'm trying to bit into and apple) I could force the lower jaw back but it was painful and I'd have to clench and rub and stretch for 5-10 minutes before I could easily and without pain get my jaw to line up correctly.

Once I get it situated it's fine the rest of the day but right now it's really annoying to wake up sore and not being able to close my jaw all the way. I will add that I can't seem to get myself to sleep with good tongue posture. It starts ok when I fall asleep but when I wake up my tongue is on the roof of my mouth with the tip of my tongue is between my front teeth. (at least 1/4" gap in front teeth in that position)

  1. Is this pain normal?
  2. Will it go away?
  3. Any other exercises or things I can do to help prevent this?
  4. other explanations?
