Shaving acryllic sides of Y-plate expander.

Hello guys, i expanded my palate around 3-4mm in the period of 6-7 months and i can place my tongue comfortable now. However there is a slight problem that i am worried about the Labial bow section and the canines. As the i expanded my palate my canines expanded too much giving a bit of a square palate arch, can you give me an advice to shave the sides a bit maybe to achieve a more round look. i still have maybe 2 mm more to turn until my expander is maxxed out.
