Hey guys,
I primarily address this question to those who have had or are currently undergoing MSE treatment.
I am a 22 years old guy, and my MSE has been installed 6 days ago, without corticopuncture, we have activated it by turning it 5 times with my ortho, and since then, I have been turning it once a day with the exception of yesterday, when I turned it two times. During the first four days or so every time after the turn I have felt a mild/strong pressure on the roof of my mouth and especially around my nose, which I considered to be a good sign. But yesterday and today the pressure has gone away almost instantaneously, or should I say within a couple of minutes. I still can feel a slight tingling or pressure around my nasal area, but it's nowhere near as powerful as it was a few days back.
Since I am prone to imagine the worst that can happen, I am afraid that the screws might be dragging in the bone, or for some other reason that I am not familiar with, the MSE is not doing its job correctly.
Could any of you guys who have undergone MSE treatment please comment on this? I would greatly appreciate to know your stories, or if you think that this pressure-fading is simply a sign of skeletal adaptation?
Thank you in advance!
I never felt a lot of tension build up, but I was turning at the slow 1 turn per day protocol. I typically felt some resistance while turning that dissipated within a couple minutes. On the day my suture split, I felt some tension and pain in and around my front teeth and then a narrow diastema appeared within a couple hours.
I noticed a split around 20 turns of my MSE. I never felt any pressure building up. Interestingly I noticed an improvement in my breathing several days before my diastema appeared.
Of course, you should be asking your orthodontist these questions!
I hope it is going well for you.
