Trying to recreate basically this... /community/community/case-discussions/is-vivos-ruining-my-sons-teeth/#post-18518 but a little thinner. This is for adults only. You can really mold this stuff really well:

Heck... there are plenty of mouth guards that could be used for all sorts of stuff! I might even get one with a strap to pull things forward... I'll just be sure to widen at the same time... or the nose won't have the maxilla coming forward. It needs to drop to slip forward. Drop it by widening slowly... primarily on the sides... or by pulling the front portion forward (kind of stretches the palate forward). I don't think that THAT can be done with a mouthguard, though... just widening. So yeah...
As you can see here... Myobrace lengthens the face.
Hey... I just thought of something... I may not need AGGA. I can get a mouthguard, fit it real well on the tops and sides... then cut it right behind the canines... put a tongue crib on the forward portion... get some stainless steel paper clips and kind of tie it a certain way (yet to be determined).. I don't know. I don't presume to know. All I know is that orthodontists should seriously consider getting their heads out of the sand.
You could possibly even hijack a mytap... http://tapintosleep.com/2018/07/26/mytap-faqs/ Give some lower jaw anchorage. That would be more for class 3, though. Could probably do the same with 2 sports guards.
You could maybe even take a mouthguard and do a double jaw forward advancement (have to widen the top at the same time.... basically just get a sports thing and bite in from both sides... get the one with the strap and hook it to a hockey mask. Get a luggage guage to see the pressure. You don't want to overapply pressure... so buy a mini one for dolls.. the use that.
We are going to do some serious BUM kicking of orthodontists. I'm pretty confident that the laws in this land allow for us to mess up our own faces. I'm pretty sure of it.
@darkindigo did you end up making this? Do you have a photo? Also wondering why you would need to cut behind the canines what does that do?

Here's an idea:
Why not just get something soft and elastic against which you can rest your tongue. By simply resting it against it you have a lot of leverage, you don't need to use muscles to push forward or upward. And because the material is elastic it can be forced into a slightly narrower palate which it will then slowly widen that palate. An example would be a big piece of gum, but that's a bad example because gum breaks in pieces, dries out, irritates skin and perhaps even damages your teeth over the long-term (if bacteria start eating it, it starts decomposing, etc...).
I think rubber would be easy and you could shape it by melting rubber in a shape frame of aluminum, which if thin enough should be mold-able by hands.
IMO this could be the easiest way to widen front maxilla and cause some forward movement to improve breathing and oral health.
Here's a simple example drawing of it:
The only thing I'm unsure of is whether re-modelling lower maxilla is ideal or not, it's something that's been happening to my maxilla a lot, but I wonder if it won't just eventually give me a weird maxilla where the lower part is way sharply in front of the upper front.
would this be applicable to vaulted palates
Also wondering if you have a diy model as I’m not too sure I understand from the diagram itself

Idk, I'm no experted, I have a vaulted palate myself so I've already indeed thought of that. I'd imagine because of a vaulted palate you'd only want a small piece of rubber/silicone right from alveolar ridge to the teeth.
As for the diagram, it's quite simple: the teeth are blue, the red is the upper palate, the blue is the shape of the rubber/silicone extension and the pink is the tongue.
The palate I drew isn't accurate though. And I don't have a diy model, it's just a concept. I'm not even sure if re-modelling the lower maxilla is ideal instead of somehow rotating the whole face.
