I've had an orthodontic consultation and have been presented with the following options:
- ALF
-RN sagittal appliance (modified ALF) (see attached photo)
-Homeoblock (DNA) appliance
What difference does the connecting link on the modified ALF have compared to the normal ALF device?
The ALF/RN-sagittal would be used in conjunction with a myobrace at night. I will finish the treatment off with Invisalign after expanding the palate.
Does anyone have any experience with any of the devices, or have any opinions on any of them picked up from the internet/articles? I also don't have the option for the FAGGA device.
I'm in the same boat, trying to find out what's the appliance or procedure right for me. My dentist works with a customized DNA/mRNA appliance, but I'm also curious about Dr. Won Moon and his MSE appliance.
I also want to know is a diastema (gap between two front teeth) inevitable if you want to expand your palate?

It’s frustrating not being able to make an educated decision. I’ve spent hours online looking but still cannot decide.
regarding the gap, I’ve just accepted that it is going to happen now. In adults it doesn’t appear to be super noticeable (i guess depending on the amount expanded)
Do you know why your dentist works with the DNA appliance? Mine was pushing towards modified ALF type
No I have no clue why he's a DNA proponent, just says he likes it and that it gives good results. I get a feeling that at this point in time a lot dentists/orthos also don't really know all of the differences between the various appliances and just sort of stick with one that does the trick.
