Hello fellow mewlers,

I've been training myself to mew for the last four days and so far I Feel it has been a great succes (30 years old/and male). My cheeks have hollowed out quite a bit and cheekbones I feel have become more pronounced. People have also observed it to be so. Waking up today and looking in the mirror though I spotted something               a-symmetrical. My right lower jaw line was quite defined supposed to my left lower jaw line. At first I dismissed it as something that could be attributed to the lighting in the room. Through the day though my suspicions didn't change.

I took a picture and now I definitely know there is some a-symmetry there that wasn't there before. I think that this might have to do with either: applying pressure on the soft pallet the wrong way, which I will elaborate on later, and/or bad body posture.

I have a sedentary job and basically since I started mewing one of the monitor I had to look at for work is on the right side of my desk. I primarily look a bit to the right when seated at that desk and suspect this could cause some minor imbalance in learning to apply pressure with the posterior part of the tongue and perhaps I made myself apply pressure primarily on one side of the soft pallet.

The second reason that might contribute is my posture, though I have been working to correct that, and I think I am doing alright changing my posture for the better.

My technique to me feels solid though not pro level let's say. I am able to push up and a bit forward with the back of my tongue, partially cutting my airway, which I believe is a sign that you are actually pushing against the soft pallet. The rest of my tongue also rest against the roof of my mouth and the tip of the tongue rest against/ partially up on my braces(I have braces only on the back of my upper front teeth). I keep my wisdom teeth touch lightly.

Now to rectify this I have throughout the day been training to apply an even pressure with my posterior tongue and I have been looking a little bit to the left throughout the day to even my lower jaws out. Now This might not be optimal and I suspect applying even pressure will even things out eventually.

One last thing to note is that I have been mewing somewhat aggressively, applying moderate to hard pressure throughout the days. What is your advice on putting more pressure on the soft pallet and if maybe this might also be a contributing factor to a-symmetrical growth.

Perhaps anyone can enlighten me and offer some sage advice for a beginner mewler. Also a big thanks to dr. Mew and thanks in advance to the people on the forum.

Yikes!  I do see this reported on this site time to time.  My guess is that your ramus is still the same length...as bone doesn't change that fast.  The pressure being applied is the problem.  I really wish Dr. Mew would put together a disclaimer.  It is heartbreaking to see people experience this.  Truthfully, I have reached out amd nothing has changed.  I am concerned by his lack of posting a meaningful disclaimer!

I have also come to the unfortunate conclusion that my right jaw is lower and wider then my left lower jaw. Anyone has any advice on how to fix it? Should I stop mewing perhaps and wait for every thing to 'reset'?
