Alright guys, long story short: I've been lurking forums like these for years and have come to the conclusion that SME with face pulling is the best shot at correcting long recessed face. My only issue is that the facemask described in the pdf seems to pull down and forward rather than up. That, and finding someone to actually try this on me are the biggest hurdles in my way. Where do I go from here? I'm so tired of looking in the mirror and wanting to punch myself because I'm so ugly. I wish I never discovered Dr. Mew and cranial facial dystrophy because at least before I thought I was just born to look like this.
Where would I even begin? I haven't been to an orthodontist in years but I know I'm recessed (weakjaw, recessed orbital rims, negative canthal tilt) and have a narrow palate (roughly 35mm IMW). I never had extractions but my parents stopped taking me to appointments after divorce and I spent 6 years with an unused fixed palatal expander in my face and braces with broken brackets assuming that once day I'd finish my treatment. Evidently this completely altered my face for the worse and I eventually took them all off with pliers myself at age 16. I'm 25 now and much uglier than my siblings and parents, I'm so desperate to try and reverse some of this damage. I live in the Philadelphia area, does anyone have any comprehensive knowledge of orthotropists or functional orthodontists in the US? I have to try something I'm so tired of feeling like an ugly freak.
