This is an attempt to start a discussion. I don't have any good ideas for this besides "genetics" (what doctors and biologists default to whenever we have no f'ing clue what's causing a disease).

Why is it that some people with CFD display display certain types of malocclusion? For example, Asians and Hispanics tend to have higher rates of class 3, whereas caucasians and africans have class 2. Regardless of racial/ genetic trends, what causes class 3 vs class 2 in the first place? It seems to me that they both are a result of some sort of midface deficiency, but the resulting bite is much different. I would hypothesize that class 3 is the result of cw rotation of the maxilla, and class 2 is the result of ccw rotation, and this very well may be the case, I just havent read any of the literature on this.

The more fundamental question then is why do some peoples maxillas rotate cw and some ccw? The mandible may be involved in this somehow as well.

genetics do effect how you look. that's why people look like their biological parents......... but also your life style might worsen or improve things.

You didn't understand what I meant there. Of course genetics exist. I'm just saying people tend to use genetics as a default cop out when they don't know the underlying cause of something
