I have a pretty decent intermolar width with a normal occlusion/teeth relationship, but I have anterior crowding in the front with a more v-shaped upper arch. I'm wondering if all I need to do is change my arch shape to more of a u shape to unjam my anterior teeth and make proper posture effortless. It's already much easier for me to posture my tongue since doing some expansion with a Schwartz, but if I use clear aligners it would develop the upper arch shape and give me straight teeth.
Thoughts?
I should also mention that I have a normal bite relationship and occlusion, the only problem I have is anterior crowding which could easily be solved by widening the anterior section. I've luckily also never had any extractions, so my issue should be easily solved.
I'm strongly considering smile direct, but what jumps out to me the are the horror stories of people ruining their teeth or gum recession. I figured that it's misuse of the product rather than the product itself, because smile direct completely eliminates the middle man and it's much easier to ruin your teeth if you're not under the supervision of a orthodontist/dentist. Also, people have too high expectations for what they can accomplish. They can make your teeth straight but that's it, and that's the only problem I have right now.
I'd like a second opinion though. Are there any other clear aligner companies that eliminate the need for going through a dentist? I'm mainly doing this because my dentist wants to extract my asymptomatic wisdom teeth that are causing no issues, and I'm afraid they would force me to do this before straightening my teeth.
