Hi,

I just discovered mewing yesterday morning and I took conscious of a problem I didn't know could even be one.

I've been trying to mew non-stop since yesterday, I don't have any problem breathing through the nose as I've already been doing it for a long time.

The problem I'm facing is that when I place my tongue perfectly where it should be and I try to close my teeth and put the upper and lower part almost at the same level, I barely can keep the posture of my tongue.

And if I finally figure to keep the right posture and close my teeth, they are shaking, like dancing on each other trying to touch themselves while I'm maintaining the right tongue position

Is it normal and it will stop with time and habits, or should I try to let my teeth took a place they prefer ?

Also, I think it's normal but mewing make my jaw sore asf, is it because I try a bit too hard or it's the time for my jaw to make to this new habits ?

Thanks for your help :)

PS : sorry if my english is bad,
Bonne Journée ;)

This is interesting. What is the condition of your occlusion and teeth? It sound like your jaws and teeth are not lined up well or you could be doing something wrong with the placement of your tongue.

Chattering spasms can be a sign of clenching/bruxism issues.

When trying to keep perfect oral posture some random nose and lip muscle start twitching sometimes and even my jaw starts shaking uncontrollably while trying to keep the oral posture perfect. Is that twitching normal, or?

Jaw tremor can be a marker of sleep bruxism. If touching your top and bottom central incisors together causes your teeth to chatter, you might suspect that you grind your teeth at night.

Hi abdul,

I think the problem come from me.

First, I don't really know what's normal and what's not because I don't know what the gap between the upper teeth and the lower teeth should be ?

Secondly, I don't know if all my teeth should always touch at the same time. Actually I trying to make my two front upper teeth make perfect contact (on one ligne) with my two front lower teeth.

If I do that, the rest of my teeth doesn't make contact at all and this is the case where my teeth are dancing on each other while I'm trying to keep a good tongue posture (by the way, today my teeth are not shaking that much compare to yesterday.)

Also it's shaking because I'm actively pushing up really hard with my tongue, so I'm trying to keep my whole jaw in constant tension, that's why my jaw is so sore.

I don't know if it's the right thing to do, or if I should just gently apply a little bit of pressure on the roof of my mouth with my tongue just enough so my tongue stay in place.

When I do it gently, my teeth are not shaking anymore, but it feel like it's doing nothing at all :/

I don't have any clenching problem, any jaw/teeth pain, even when I just woke up.

How can I be sure that I'm not grinding my teeth while I sleep ?

Also I'm not a mouth breather anymore, I've been putting tape on my mouth when I was sleeping every night for almost 3 mouth, and that definitely improved my sleep quality, sport activity and recovering.

There is your problem. Your pushing up very hard which you shouldn't. Also your massater muscles which are responsible for closing your jaws are probably not strong enough to withstand the pressure from the tongue.

Place the tip of your tongue on the roof of your mouth (the N spot) and try to suction the back of into the soft palate.
