Fagga without bite plates?

Does anyone know how essential the bite plates are in the Fagga treatment? Is there anyone who’s tried without them? From what I understand they are to help the bottom jaw slide forward to match the upper and to provide a surface for chewing if the bite gets ‘off’. I’ve found some information about removable bite plates. One of main reservations I have regarding treatment is the problems with speech caused by the bite plates. I’d be fine with it 95 percent of the time, but there are some instances  in my life that it’s important I’m able to speak clearly and without the lisp caused by a strange dental appliance. If I could do it without the bite plates or with the possibility for an occasional respite I’d be very happy!!

The AGGA appliance causes the lisp, not the bite plates.   The plates or pads are there to allow the front teeth to slide forward without interference from the lower teeth.

Thanks for clarifying!

Do you have the AGGA? And do you know if anyone adapts to the device and speaks clearly or do they lisp through the whole treatment?

You adapt.  There's a slight impediment, but it's barely noticeable.  No one has even said anything to me about it.  That's been my experience anyway.

How are you finding your agga experience all in all?

I'm only in month 2, but it hasn't been that bad.  I just have a lot of crowding and a narrow palate.  MSE might have been better for my particular case, but I couldn't find any one near me.  AGGA may work out though.  I'm hopeful.  There's a user named James that has documented his case very well.  I think he's in controlled arch now.  You should read his posts.
