I am not sure how to deal with this.  I don't want to deal with this.  When people are too ignorant or knuckle-headed to get CBCT... and they were bad to begin... it's like they're just asking for things to get WORSE AND WORSE AND WORSE AND WORSE.  Pushing the chin back without widening arches is literally the worst treatment out there.  Smile Direct Club doesn't seem to care... as they go for market share.  They don't know what they're doing or they don't care.  Either way, it's inexcusable.

If you're injured, speaking to lawyers would be a good idea in deciding whether to take their $2k refund.  $2k won't fix lost productivity.  It won't fix hurt relationships.  I won't unwind mental health issues stemming from under-oxygenation.  It won't give back time lost or time needed for facial reparation.  It won't raise a loved one from the grave.  It will only allow for you to try to undo the changes...and it usually requires more $ than $2k.

I'm not surprised. I spent part of my day reading literature from maxillofacial surgery on setback surgeries trying to find just one study that had a polysomnogram which measured Respiratory Effort Related Arousals, or made some attempt to model the impact of non-hypoxic breathing. But nope. The studies I could find conveniently just measure AHI and focus on oximetry. The failure to understand airway is a hazard in most arms of medicine.

Yes!  Yes!  Yes!  This is so impacting, absolutely underrecognized.  Life literally hangs in the balance for some!   For anyone who actually understands what is going on - few if any do...except the top leaders!!!  We all feel like we are going nuts!!!  But we are all going nuts together.  It’s like those colorblind tests.  Like few can even see it.  We just don’t even if it stares us in the face...and it does.  And people - often children - are being actively hurt by the orthodontists.  I see so many injured people...so, so many...too many.  And med mal lawyers have no clue...do they?  I can’t seem to find anyone.  You CAN represent yourself.  This whole space is a cesspool.  Check out this heartbreaking video and you tell me...

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=DQXilP5BTVs

I can’t even watch this video.  Short of it is that children are permanently getting their IQ lowered.  I literally can’t watch this.  Only a pulmonologist should read these sleep studies.  Ear, nose and throat docs are clueless.  Truthfully, we should make it so that anyone can get and read these.  The medical establishment has been cracking down on dentists.  In some cases they ARE opportunistic...so that is a challenge.  First do no harm is not the mantra of many orthodontists.  They are actively harming without a care in the world... but they will care.  They are losing their field and know it.  They won’t be forced to care, though, because few are worried about health.  I am trying to change this & am going to.
