Hello guys, as written in other posts, I have a severe deep bite with retroclined upper incisors. As I am about to turn 25, the remodeling process is said to be slower, but I think my mandible is trapped back because of retroclined upper incisors. If so, would straightening the teeth result in the mandible automatically slipping forward, or will the remodeling still take place over a long period of time?

Hard to say... Depends on range of motion for mandible.

You're right. I can move my mandible to the underbite position, like 2-3 cm, what does that mean?

That sounds very positive!  I surmise your theory is correct!  The range of motion of the mandible is a big limiting factor in non-surgical success!  Look at faceliftdentistry.com as they don't do surgery... but reposition the lower jaw based on its movement.  :-)  It sounds as though uprighting those teeth will be very beneficial.  I would get some free ortho consults.  Really exciting!

Out of curiosity... low energy, TMJ issues or OSA?  Even difficulty in waking up or mental health issues are common with airway issues / poor sleep.  These may be related to a recessed mandible!

Your bite is a rare type from what I have read.  It could be caused by an imbalance of lip/tongue pressure?  If it were my sibling... I would look at potential underlying behavior patterns.  Tongue tie or repetitive lip behaviors? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gQihz4JOPps&t=64s

When I was a kid, I sucked the dummy, and that was the thing that ruined me. I grew up with a completely wrong swallowing pattern and a tongue tie. At the age of 12 I  wore braces on my upper teeth, which, as it happens, are the ones turned inwards, and about 5 years ago I removed the tie from tongue. I also have pronunciation problems with the letters c,g,sc due to misdevelopment. Despite everything I have never suffered from sleep apnea, and now I can mew quietly with all my tongue on the palate.

So, is the fact that the mandible protrudes this far a positive sign? Could it not indicate a retruded maxilla?

Ah!  This makes sense.  Those braces saved you.  They allowed your mandible to develop properly.  I was shocked to hear your mandible had that range of motion, but now it makes sense.  Since your tongue tie is fixed now... fixing your maxillary teeth should be sustainable this time.  Cool story!

I'd get some consults.  Everyone charges different prices and uses different tools/techniques.  Sounds like fixing this may be easy!  If your ortho looked at root cause and fixed underlying issue of tongue tie, the job would have been sustainable.  :-) You are one lucky person.  Yes, fix those maxillary teeth... unlikely that the maxillary jaw is retruded...  sinve your ortho would have addressed that.  The cheapest way to upright those teeth is with a removeable appliance with springs.  Depending on the health if gums... I may opt for a true ortho.  I always like to be cautious with teeth movement for root absorption potential.  A dentist may suffice, but why noy pay a bit for a good ortho?  Make smile super pretty!  I am not in a position to offer individualized advice... so work with someone qualified who you trust where you're at.  :-)

The weird thing is c and g.  Watch this...

Talk to a good speech person or look up on internet.  I know a woman whose baby just struggled to nurse.  Took her to 6 tongue tie people.  The last one found a tie in far back part of tongue.  Fixed it and baby could nurse.  Have no idea on this stuff.

Lucky person you say? Well sure, in life there is worse, but not so lucky I would say, considering that I would have been a very attractive guy with the right teeth. Instead, I am here at 25 years old trying to solve this problem that has conditioned me all my life, ruining my face (especially my eyes).

My eyes are beautifully shaped and have a good cantal inclination, but because of the incorrect posture I've been taking all my life, it seems that my eye sockets have not gotten the right support, leaving me with a very obvious exposure of the upper eyelids. It almost seems that my eyes are too low compared to the eyebrow arch, which is very prominent instead, so I should have hooded eyes and instead...

Lucky to avoid lower jaw surgery.  I guess there are better lucks of the draw.
